TikTok Shop Vietnam has made a major move—officially launching an 'account re-verification' mechanism.Cross-border sellers, take note.
Not everyone needs to be verified; the platform uses a 'risk-triggered' model. It will only be activated when the system detects anomalies, rather than being a universal requirement.
What situations will trigger scrutiny? Mainly three categories: too many negative reviews or a continuous decline in ratings; ahistory of non-compliant sales, such as selling counterfeits or false advertising; and abnormal account logins, sudden changes intransaction patterns, or inconsistent credential information.
Once triggered, the verification requirements are stricter than during onboarding. Individualsellers must submit their ID card, full name, date of birth, and residential address, as well as undergo a facialscan. Business sellers must submit company registration documents, tax identification numbers, and registered addresses.
Sole proprietorships and family businesses face additional requirements—they must upload the identity information and facial recognition data of the Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO). Simply put, the platform wants to clarify 'who is actually running this store.'
Additionally, remember: the entire re-verification process can only be operated by the master account (administrator permissions); sub-accountsdo not have permission.
The consequences of failing to complete verification are severe: listing new products may be suspended, traffic may be restricted, transaction features may be frozen, and in serious cases, the store may be shut down directly.
The biggest headache is for sellers who did not properly fill out their credentials during onboarding—such as those using others' IDs orhaving vague corporate structures. They will face major trouble now. If the actual controller cannot cooperate with facial recognition, they willbasically be left helpless.
When it comes to compliance, the longer you delay, the costlier it gets.
